you go to a protest with the liberals you have, not the liberals you want

One thing I learned as a skinny, bespectacled, smarty-pants kindergartenerwas that you never, ever, let the bully see you cry. You cry, bully laughs and punches you in the stomach. Please sir- next time can I help you write your sign?

It's a matter of considering your audience. Do you think a rightie is going to give half a rat's ass that Bush administration policies have made a lefty "sad"? If anything, it just fuels their conception of us as a bunch of pantywaist, mamby pamby 98-pound weaklings. Liberals need to send the message that the right is in for a fight if they think they're going to take this country from us. As you know I'm not convinced f the effectiveness of sign-waving in the first place, but this particular photo just evinced a flinch from me- "Ouch! That's not gonna help". By the way, when I posted this I said to myself "I bet Anti is going to call me to the carpet for this one". And that's meant as a compliment.

I agree with your big picture totally. You know I do. We will never appear strong and unified and capable of running this country in the eyes of the voting public if our loudest message is "the Right are Big Meanies." However I was focusing on the event itself, which unfortunetly, I had the great displeasure of watching in its entirity. I have never witnessed such bold slight of hand, such a tightly controlled diversion from and manipulation of reality. That man couldn't have gotten anywhere near the procession or a camera if he were carrying a sign that had statistics about Social Security, or the lies about the war, or voter fraud, or incindiary language written on it. He was damn lucky to get a sign in there at all. Which IS sad. The whole thing was really fucking sad.

All I'm saying is that given the climate, the circumstance...I found the single word "Sad" written a big white card remarkably profound.

I read it like "I am sad" rather than "This is sad". The latter makes much more sense, but the look on the guy's face seems to support my interpretation- that and the fact that I'm always right. Except when I'm not.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the part where you're always right. Except for when you are not.

Like now.

*big grin*
