might as well face it

I don't care too much that Robert Palmer's dead, but I guess I oughta give him props for coming up with the line "She's so fine, there's no telling where the money went", which I always liked, enough that I paraphrased it for the link below that tells you how much the war in Iraq is costing us.
Also, I still think Power Station sounded pretty good- of course all due to Tony Thompson's (Chic) drumming (I think they could have surrounded him with squirrels stuck inside metal garbage cans and they still would have funked up the place).Oh- and he looked good in a suit. Not too many people do in my opinion- so why does everybody wear them? So I'll nod my head for a second to mark his passing, then go about my business.

Sad but true. The question I REALLY want answered, is what does that line in that song ("She's so fine, there's no telling where the money went") actually mean or refer to, literally, anyway?

So many people quote that line, but I've never found any explanation for it.

I'd be happy to answer the question "why does everybody wear [suits]?" in return, at least partly. Well, in my own wat, anyway. I suppose several faculties of sociologists and behavioural scientists could spend their entire careers tilling the field of speculation. Apparently male fashion is stuck in a rather boring rut, and most men who dress up in clothes whose pricetag could feed a small African village for a year, just want to demonstrate that they belong to the tribe of people with some money and mainstreamness. They are content fashion cattle, who don't care. How good they look is measured by the approving behavior from the many females seeking men with money and mainstream acceptance. If many females (and business-dweebs) approve, that does what most men want in expensive clothes, and it's also good if they can think as little as possible about it, and have to buy as few varieties as possible.
