Deeper meaning

I consider this sentence of bed rest a cosmic plot, or more…nature’s intervention. A way to ensure I will have learned valuable lessons by the time this baby comes, like, to be more consistently patient, to stop concerning myself with things like household cleanliness and organization, to surrender to uncertainty and chaos, let go. Because, according to the universe, I’m waaaaaaaaay to uptight about those things. Evidently it’s good for babies to live in a house filled with mountains of dog hair, and sticky black, soot-like exhaust-dust covering everything, without a single stick of nursery furniture or diapering/cleansing supplies. They like ‘winging it’ in vile filth, naked …if I’m deciphering this heavenly message correctly.

That describes my parents' house to a "T." (Squalor, my friend calls it.) I turned out pretty well, thank you. When he starts eating the dog hair and black soot, then it may be a problem. Or the beginings of a hearty immune system! Hang in there, girl!

Clearly the universe wants you to drench your apartment with kerosene and burn it ruthlessly to ash, then to pound on that ash with your fists while raging and screaming. This is the only way that it will ever truly be "clean."
I can't figure out whether I think the universe is an a-hole, or a douchebag...possibly some hybrid a-hole-douchebag. What you need is a hat fashioned after a cornucopia of fruit...certainly a bowl of zzzzoup d'jour.

No, it's true, they do like "winging it in vile filth, naked." My one- and three-year-olds strive to be naked and filthy as much as possible, and when they achieve their goal, they will spend happy hours in the backyard, digging up the flowers and lovingly trying to feed each other goose poop.

Just make "it helps to develop their immune system" your mantra, and point out to the squeamish that farm kids have less asthma.

Ash. Goose poo. Hearty immune systems...soup!

These are a few of my favorite things.
