You disappear on a shoot with a crazy charismatic self-help guru, and before you know it someone's stepped in and started dissin' your friends. I'd have something clever to say if a precedent had been set, and were I not still hung-over from Saturday.

I dunno, maybe he has a point. I've been seeing a lot of "look at the swells I run with, ma," lately, too. I try to assidiously avoid it myself, because then it starts to get incestous and injokey (not that there's anything wrong with that per se, but there's a time and place). Maintaining a healthy engagement with the world outside the blogosphere is what makes for interesting writing, IMHO.
